About This Work
After failing for several weeks to find a subject matter which inspired me, I discovered a make-up artist that specialized in lipstick. Her carefully cropped portrait images featured a unique application of various colors that produced an extremely vibrant result. Upon closer inspection I felt compelled to paint her interpretation of the ideal application of lipstick as a work of art. Using models from many different backgrounds I received instant positive reception which compelled me to further the series. In doing so it occurred to me just how obsessed men and women can be about a pair of lips, hence, the title of the series “Fixation”. The first 100 prints of each Lips edition are reserved for Triptych Purchases.
